The Full Story

StarCanna was never meant to color inside the lines. She grew up strict Catholic on a little farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula — the kind of place where tarot cards were tossed out (literally, her mom once threw hers away) and “witchy stuff” was definitely frowned upon. Naturally, Star grew up knowing she was different, with an intuition she couldn’t ignore. Fast-forward: Star discovers she was born on Lughnasadh (yes, the harvest festival!) and starts embracing her magic.Along the way, she falls in love with the medicinal cannabis plant — producing cannabis-themed variety shows, hosting talk shows with advocates across the country, and working with the plant in just about every way possible. But still, something was missing. Enter Tarojuana. For two years, the idea brewed in her mind — a tarot deck that’s part magic, part cannabis love letter, and fully dedicated to smashing stigma. On her 39th birthday, she decided it was time. After hunting for a local artist with no luck, she found the perfect designer online, launched a Kickstarter, and turned a “fun side project” into a movement. Within three months, Star launched a successful Kickstarter, rallied support from her community, and printed hundreds of decks — complete with a guidebook and pouches. Tarojuana became the first deck of its kind: unapologetically cannabis-positive, spiritual, and beautiful.Today, Tarojuana is sold in dispensaries and shops across multiple states, and Star continues to grow its presence while dreaming up new ways to merge mysticism, advocacy, and joy. When she’s not working, you’ll likely find her hanging with her dog, pulling cards, or plotting her next big deck.
